 The idea for FlightSim.ro had begun sometime at the end March of 2005 after a fiery dispute between a moderator of a Yahoo Group (which out of respect shall remain anonymous) and several members of that group over the managing style of the moderator.
The dispute terminated with the members being kicked out of the group (unfairly in our opinion) by the moderator, but in turn, the banning gave birth to what we like to think, a better, improved gathering place for flight simulation enthusiasts from all over the world, not just Romania.
FlightSim.ro founded by Valentin Mihailescu along with a few other anonymous members, started out with nothing more than a forum, immediately following with the hosting of the IVAO Romanian Division website, making it the official FlightSim website of Romania.
As of August 2008, FlightSim.ro grew so popular, that it had been forced
to search for alternate means of hosting. Now the website is hosted on a
semi-dedicated server customized to its specific needs.
From the opening date, FlightSim Romania, has enjoyed a constantly increasing membership, slowly but surely rivaling the group that caused its beginning. Unlike that group, FlightSim.ro offers its members almost all the items regarding romanian flight simulation under one roof, from a discussion forum all the way to downloads and news. |
